Greg's Campaign Pillars
Trusted Leadership Through Experience
â—‹ Greg Six believes experience should be measured not just by time served, but by the results delivered. Throughout his career with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Greg has focused on moving the agency forward through innovation, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to public safety.
â—‹ Greg has been directly involved in implementing modern law enforcement strategies that protect both deputies and the community. He helped introduce the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to safely stop vehicles fleeing lawful traffic stops, strengthening the agency’s ability to hold offenders accountable through proactive law enforcement while reducing risks to the public.
â—‹ Understanding that strong public safety begins with strong leadership inside the agency, Greg was a key developer of the Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Pay Plan and worked closely with county finance officials to secure enhanced adjustments that improved recruitment and retention. He has also championed officer safety initiatives, including redesigning patrol vehicle graphics to improve nighttime visibility and community recognition, as well as modernizing patrol uniforms to improve deputy comfort, performance, and morale.
â—‹ Greg has worked alongside Sheriff Hines and the Hanover County Board of Supervisors to create a plan ensuring every school in Hanover County is fully staffed with a dedicated deputy. He remains committed to maintaining a deputy in every school—not only to provide security, but to serve as a positive role model, mentor, and trusted resource for students and families.
â—‹ In addition to his operational leadership, Greg served for eight years as the Sheriff’s Office Finance Officer, where he directly managed the agency’s budget process, grants management and reporting, procurement operations, and timekeeping systems. His approach has always emphasized fiscal stewardship, accountability, and making sure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly to support public safety.
â—‹ Greg Six has spent his career doing the work necessary to strengthen the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, support its deputies, and keep Hanover County one of the safest communities in Virginia.
Transparency and Accountability in Service
â—‹ Greg Six believes Hanover County deserves a Sheriff who leads with integrity, listens with humility, empowers people to succeed, and never loses sight of who the Sheriff’s Office ultimately works for—the citizens of Hanover County.
â—‹ Greg Six believes the strength of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office begins with trust—trust earned through transparency, accountability, professionalism, and consistent service to the people of Hanover County.
â—‹ As Sheriff, Greg’s commitment is simple: every member of the Sheriff’s Office must understand that we are accountable not only to our leadership, but ultimately to the citizens we serve. Public trust is not automatic. It is earned every day through honest communication, sound judgment, and a willingness to hold ourselves and one another to the highest standards.
â—‹ Greg believes leadership is about setting a clear tone from day one. His message to the men and women of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is straightforward: continue to serve with commitment, continue to act with professionalism, continue to show compassion where it is needed, continue to uphold the honor of the badge, and continue to hold yourselves—and each other—accountable. If we do those things, we will remain worthy of the trust this community has placed in us.
â—‹ Throughout his career, Greg has worked to create a culture where employees are empowered to think critically, make decisions, and contribute ideas without fear of retaliation or being ignored. Greg understands that transparency and accountability are strengths. They build confidence within the agency and consensus within the community. Under Greg’s leadership, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office will continue to focus on proactive law enforcement while remaining firmly connected to the community.
Building Safer, Stronger Communities
â—‹ For Greg Six, protecting vulnerable citizens means being proactive, building relationships, educating the public, and ensuring every resident—from young students to senior citizens—feels safe, supported, and connected to the community they call home.
â—‹ Greg Six believes building safer and stronger communities begins with protecting the people who are most vulnerable and strengthening the partnerships that make Hanover County successful.
â—‹ As Sheriff, Greg is committed to focusing on two of the community’s most vulnerable populations—our youth and our seniors. Far too often, both groups become targets of digital content scams, identity theft, fraudulent banking activity, online exploitation, and other technology-driven crimes that continue to evolve every day. Protecting vulnerable citizens means more than simply responding after a crime occurs. It means educating, preparing, and empowering people before they become victims.
â—‹ That commitment has already led to action. In 2025, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office launched the Digital Defense Program for parents to help families better understand online threats, social media dangers, cyber safety, and digital exploitation. Greg is now working to expand that effort with a youth-focused version of the program specifically designed to educate and protect young people as they navigate an increasingly digital world.
â—‹ Greg also believes protecting vulnerable populations means maintaining strong relationships between law enforcement and the community. Hanover County has long been recognized for exceptional public safety partnerships. The collaboration between county leadership, Hanover County Public Schools, Fire-EMS, surrounding law enforcement agencies, civic organizations, businesses, and faith communities has helped make Hanover one of the safest places to live in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
â—‹ Greg is committed to continuing and strengthening those partnerships because public safety cannot be accomplished by one agency alone. Safe communities are built through cooperation, communication, trust, and shared responsibility. Under his leadership, the Sheriff’s Office will remain engaged with neighborhoods, businesses, schools, and community organizations to ensure citizens always have a voice and a connection to their Sheriff’s Office.
â—‹ Greg also recognizes that modern law enforcement must be visible, approachable, and accessible. That is why he supports expanding the Sheriff’s Office social media presence as a tool for education, transparency, crime prevention, and community engagement. By using social media to share safety information, fraud prevention resources, community updates, and positive interactions between deputies and citizens, Greg believes the agency can strengthen trust while helping residents stay informed and protected.
